Astrid Lindgren

Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002) is one of Sweden's greatest children's authors. She created characters that children around the world know by heart: the strong, independent Pippi Longstocking, the mischievous Emil of Lönneberga, the robber's daughter Ronia, and the brothers Rusky and Jonathan Lionheart.

What sets her storytelling apart is the child's point of view. Everyday life turns into adventure, and children are the heroes of their own stories — in the forest, on the farm, in the village, or in an imaginary world that still feels safe to come home from.
